99 Accord Manual Transmission Question (I-4)
Occasionally, I have a hard time putting the car into forward or reverse. Car is sitting on level ground and the parking brake is off. If I tap the gas, it slides right in. Car has 65K miles on it.
It is more of an annoyance right now, but anyone know if something is wearing/bad and/or needs to be replaced? Is there an adjustment I need to make?
Thanks!

seriously, this is a very common issue with pretty much all manual trans cars.
When I come up to a stop light, I ususally put the car into 1st before it stops rolling. that pretty much takes care of that one
My 98 Honda Accord coupe 5 spd does exactly the same thing. I find it difficult to shift into first, this I find only happens when the car is not running at optimal temperature. Two independant mechanics have told me that this is normal, so live with it.
I remember on my Jetta (very hard to go into first gear until I put in Redline MTL) what helped was:
1) Stopped, clutch pedal up
2) Light turns...
3) Clutch pedal down, select 3rd gear - THEN - 1st gear
4) Clutch pedal up to engage 1st gear - car moving

lower your expectations
Well that sucks! It does happen more when it is cold, so maybe a fluid change will do the trick. It is just that my Chevy *gasp* that I traded in shifted better into 1st and reverse than my Honda. A bit dissapointing to say the least...
