Default Cost of valve adjustment at acura stealership

What's the ball park cost for a valve adjustment? Is it included with a 'tune-up'? If so what do the tune-up's cost and what else comes along with it? Thx

Cost of valve asjustment alone was about $50.
And that was 5+years ago when I didn't know better.

They usually run about $50-$60 or about the same cost as a quality valve adjustment tool and a valve cover gasket....hint hint.

it was my first time doing the valve adjust.. and everyone (from other honda related lists/forums) that I asked said it was helpful.. plus $50 for a tool that I could use over and over was cheaper than spending $90 for the dealer to do my valve adjustment...

IMO the tool made it easier since it was my first time doing a valve adjust and you have to maneuver the feeler guages as well as hold the screwdriver to adjust the clearances and then tighten the jamb nut...

The first and only time I've ever had the dealer do a valve adj, it was $60 to $70 at Honda.

Any interval servicing involves more checking and inspecting than actual maintenance. They have to bill you for the time b/c it does take quite a bit of time to make all the inspections and do the substantial maintenance procedures.

The only substantial maintenance you'll get out of a 60k mile recommended service:
.air filter ($30 - your billed price)
.oil change ($30)
.spark plugs ($60 - $70)
.cap & rotor (maybe and usually at added cost)
.fuel filter (maybe and usually at added cost)
.valve adjustment (maybe and usually at added cost)

I've even seen dealerships use Autolite platinum plugs that cost like a few dollars each in place of the NGK platinums (cost $12 to $15 each), and still charge $18 a piece for them.

In the end, you get billed $300+ just for a few things that you can do in a couple hours at 1/4 the price.

I am nervous about touching any of my internals since I've never done it before. If I had someone with me while I was doing it to watch over me for my first time I'd love to DIY it. Oh well, I'll let the stealership rape me once again.
