Default changing belts

how hard is it to change a belt? if they are loose is the belt bad or can it be tightend? thanks

You need to inspect the belts for any signs of wear like cracking or missing ribs, etc. The alternator and PS belts are pretty easy to change. The alternator can be a tight squeeze but it can be done w/o even getting underneath the car. The A/C belt is more difficult because you have to unbolt the lower driver side engine mount underneath the left frame rail, but even then it's not too hard.

dont bonk my head. . . yea i need a new alternator belt, how much does it cost? and how do i get it off and/or tighten it?

well you hvae too get the alternator belt off under the car, id have a mechanic do it they have ifs and it wont cost you alot for labor.

actually no, like I stated above, I have changed my alternator belt w/o getting under the car. It was a tight squeeze working the belt between the alternator pulley and frame (very little clearance) but I was able to get it through. Of course the other 2 belts will have to come off of the crank pulley to get the alternator belt off.

damn dude you have alot of patience, i use my garages lift and get it from under, alot less stress i think

If a belt has already stretched beyond its usable capacity, you should never readjust the tension back to within spec. It will only strain an only already-stretched belt.

Just get new belts from Pepgirls. $10.00 a belt (dayco).
