88-91 civic si with automatic seatbelts with cage???
Ok first I'm looking for an 88-91 civic si for a street/track car. I found a super cheap 91 si that I'm going to look at this weekend.
My question is do these come with automatic seat belts, and if so how exactly do they work and how are the mounted, door or car?
Photos would be a big plus.
Can these belts be converted to standard manual belts?
The reason I ask is because a cage will be going in the car and I'm worried if the OE seatbelts will still fit(for inspection purpose). I will have a race harness but still need the OE belt functional with the cage.
Thanks.

Are you getting a custom cage, or just the usual Autopower? It's possible that a custom cage could be designed around those belts, but most likely they would hit a standard cage. I pulled the stock belts out of my CRX and didn't have trouble getting it inspected - just find a friendly place.

I have a 91, and while the seat belts are on the doors, they are not automatic but stationary. They are just mounted near the back of the door. Should be able to use them with a rollbar or cage if you get creative. Good luck!
i have a 91 with those silly seatbelts and an autopower rolbar and it doesnt interfeer. in a cage the only place it would be a problem is if u have doorbars. then u'd run into problems. now, if u plan to daily the car with a cage, i hope u plan to wtw race the car. otherwise a cage is not necessary and u may get hurt in a traffic accident. (had to put that in there)

Thanks for the quick reply guys.
So can this door mount be changed to the other mount(whatever that is)?
Yes this will be a custom cage, nice and close to the roof line. So you guys think the seatbelt attached to the door would fall below the bar across the top of the door?
Yes w/w, I will be covering it in padding but my head smacking that still gonna f me up. I only use it to get back and forth from work about 3 miles with a 30mph posted speed limit, so I'm not worried about that at all, it the long trip to the track on the highway that worries me a bit, but I will be straped in a 5 point. Any advice...?

i think either way u have the seatbelt (b piller or door) the doorbars will get in the way. do a search on cages and look at peoples doorbars.
