need help on finding a helmet that is eye glasses friendly...
Hey everyone...
I have been given the gift of poor vision and I need to wear eye glasses. Which helmets do my fellow 4 eyes wear? I will not wear contacts, just dont like the idea of sticking something in my eye
Thanks for your time..

Bell M2 and G Force Hybrid are good choices since they have large eyeports...

I run the Bell SR-Pro - and I can put the helmet on without removing my glasses, and I wear a set of Scott Goggles that I bought at a Motorcycle shop.
I've considered whether this is the best setup with respect to hot fluids and flames in the cockpit, but most guys wearing regular full face helmets (in closed cockpit cars) with full visor usually run with the visor partially up for reason of airflow and breathing - so I'm not sure the functional emergency difference is that great.
Consider buying the smallest practical glasses as well, otherwise it's tougher getting everything happy in place.
Scott, who raced one Moto in contacts - it was awful and I couldn't see **** thru the blur and I sucked in front of the girl I'd brought to the races as our first date. Second Moto put on the glasses and won. It didn't work out with the girl anyway. That's racing for ya.

wow what a big price difference between the Simpson and the GForce and the look pretty much the same too.
The GForce seems to be a good choice so far...hmmmmm

I have a small-eyeport closed face helmet, and I can still get my glasses on fine - you just have to put the helmet on in two steps.
1. Put helmet halfway on and put glasses through eyeport (so the earpiece goes over your ears).
2. Pull down the helmet and glasses all at once.
Maybe it's tough to explain...but the guy at the shop where I bought my helmet showed my how to do it, and it's pretty easy. Still, try to get some glasses that stay reasonably close to your face and you'll be fine, regardless of what helmet you buy.

And just so no one whines:
The OMP Formula Wide is designed with people who wear glasses in mind:

Drew - Who is amazed at how people will blow huge $$$s on performance parts and then skimp and go with the bare minimum on safety items
The GForce seems to be a good choice so far...hmmmmmLOL! Is your head worth only as much as the cheapest helmet you can find?

another option is the bieffe predator.
not as wide an eyeport as the bell m2 (which i tried on), but my glasses still fit (even my larger frame sunglasses). the bieffe fit my head better than the bells. you should try a few different lines (bell, bieffe, simpson, omp, gforce, omp, etc) to find the brand that fits your head best (since most brands use the same head mold for all helmets, but each brand uses a different one). then once you know which brands fit you, then you can select the one with the largest eyeport.
cheers,
phil

I just got home and looked at my helmet and it has a wide eyeport as well. I wear a Bell M2 Pro:

I can tell you that I have NO problem getting sunglasses into it. It is light and comfortable. The ONLY complaint I have about it, and the other Bell's I have had is that the mechanism for holding the visor up SUCKS *** and will stop functioning in not too long of a period of time. I don't generally wear the visor down for autocrossing, don't wear it down for HPDE and on hot days don't wear it down when racing BUT I no longer have that choice since the visor won't stay up on its own.

I'm using the Bieffe Integral GT which also has a large eyeport. No visor, as I never thought I'd ever use it. I can slide sunglasses in with no problem, and it also has a small sunshade at the top edge of the eyeport.
I picked up a nice Vega Helmet off eBay for $80 shipped. I must remove my glasses to get it on, even with my very small lenses, but the padding grips the stems perfect and keeps them tight.
