need help with "Park" ASAP
i got 2 1990 integra LS both automatics, and both of them seem to take a few seconds (today was like 5 minutes) to put the car in park and wait til the red light came on to take the key outa the ignition....if the "P" isnt lighted red, u cant get the key out of the ignition
, is this common or can i do something to fix it?

my friend has an automatic b18a tranny laying around his shop with 120k on it, that works perfectly. if you are interested, i can let him know.
...tranny fluid?...
Or meaning should you check it?
PLEASE check it.
no offense, but I hope you do know that there needs to be fluid in there..heh

Look at your cars owners manual it should say how to check/fill tranny fluid.

patience.. all the automatic experts are still sleeping. Ill wake them up JUST FOR YOU.
in auto's isn't there some keylock solenoid or sumthing.. where it has to detect the car is in park before it'll release the key? kind of like that brake lock solenoid which won't let the shifter out of park unless you press the brake...
as for diagnosis.. sorry I have no idea...

There should be a dip stick like the one where you check the oil.

I had the same problem with mine but it took about 20 minutes one time for it to go to park. I took apart the console (most of the dash to get to it) and then I cleaned the contacts between the lever and the sensor to the right of it. Use a contact cleaner. It still does it but its only about 10 seconds now but I think its because of the cold. 10 degrees here in PA
It was about 20 minutes to take it apart. About 10 minutes to spray it with contact cleaner (I sprayed and then let it dry and sprayed again) then about 15 minutes to put it back together. Be prepared for fun because there are clips in places under the dash holding it together that were really tight. I have a prelude and it takes me 20 minute and I can have the entire dash on the garage floor but the integra is real bad.
