Removed AEM Bypass Valve, noticed that I was losing power all this time! *pics inside*

What everyone was saying about this Bypass valve is right on the money, It definitely takes away precious hp. I did some runs with the bypass valve installed, and did some runs with it replaced with 2.75" radiator hose. There is a difference, not huge, but definitely noticable.
I'm keeping the BPV in the trunk for days that it's going to rain, instead of making it a short ram... The BPV has saved the teg from hydrolock a bunch of times (especially from last weeks rain!.

I drove around LA with my CAI and was fine. Didn't see any huge puddles or anything though.
Many parts of my area were flooded. Hell, it rained so hard we lost power

I'm in SoCal too. **** was wet...my bypass valve-less AEM did just fine. You have to submerge it. I wouldn't recommend driving in water deep enough to do that anyway.
yea, if you have the bypass valve.. thats the way i'd do it.. jus change it out to the hose when its dry out and the valve when its wet out. But what'd be way more marketable for the AEM and other cai companies would be to create a cover for the bypass valve so that it won't draw any air from the outside when its on.. then when its raining you could simply remove the cover.
So....I'm assuming if you buy a bypass valve you have to saw your intake tube in half, right?

I did the same thing you did. Only I did it at the wrong time. It was raining hard as hell in the valley (sfv). My cai got submerged as I underestimated a puddle on the side of the street, going towards porter ranch, on Tampa. My CAI didn't like engulf water like crazy. It probably only took in a couple rain drops, but still, water isn't somewhere it's supposed to be. The check engine light was on for like two days. I switched back to my bypass and it was fine.

Short ram intakes w/ open filters rob power compared to stock airbox in most cases... might as well keep the stock box, throw in a K&N and make a tube under the airbox similar to the Comptech Icebox... well whaddya know, I did just that.

I used to have a bypass valve, and when i took it off i couldn't really tell if i was gaining power. This is what i think contributes to more power...

It'd be a bear to have to change that thing in the rain everytime. I'm getting a K&N stock filter for my 95 GSr . I don't think the air in the eng. compartment is that much warmer when you're moving at speed anyhow.
Ok. anyone knwo where u can get some of that tubing like you used to take out ur bypass valve??
I ran mine witha nd without and noticed a difference too..
Anyone know if you can just get the aem part like you have near the throttle body

The BPV should not be installed at the TB, if it even fit. It wont work that way.
