How can you tell if your clutch is going out?
Hi,
I was wondering if any of this happens to you guys. I have a 2001 integra gsr and sometimes when I lift my foot off the clutch after shifting it sometimes sticks to the floor for a second or the pedal does not spring back up. I was wondering if my clutch was going out or is this just the way that clutches get broken in. I hope I explained this problem correctly.
Thanks for any help.

I read on here a few weeks ago that lets you do something to test to see if your clutch is slipping... but i forgot... lemme search for it real quick.
sorry I tried to find it with no luck... it's pretty late in the evening so perhaps i over-looked it... but i'm sure there's plenty of people here that knows how to tell if it is indeed your clutch and not something else...
Basically, when you pushes on the pedal, the gears grind when shifting into first or reverse (from a stop, with the engine running), rather than going into gear.
I think your problem is something else.

This sounds more like a clutch master/slave cylinder problem. Right before the clutch sticks to the floor, does it go down with almost no resistance?
Put your car in fifth gear and approx 2000 RPM. Floor the car.
If you feel your clutch slip then you know its going.....

Steve

See now i heard different, i heard if you put your car in 5th gear and then when standing still with the car idling, let go of the clutch, if the car stays running....your clutch is shot, if it dies out then its all good. i actually learned something in school.

clutch slipping = when you press on the gas, clutch is depressed, and your rpm's jump higher than normal, but you see no significant increase in excelleration.
almost feels like your revving your motor, but the clutch is engaged and in gear.

does sound like your clutch slipping at all, sounds like a master cyclinder/slave problems, or possibly the clutch fork??? i dunno.
i know sometimes when i clean my interior and do the carpets, i accidently put the floor mats too close to the firewall after i clean them, and they're curled upwards, so when i press the clutch, and then go to depress, then clutch gets stuck behind my floor mat for half a sec. rrrrrr

hopefully that's your problem and not a clutch issue.
