The idea of a LS/VTEC is, of course, to attache a Vtec head to an LS block (B18A/b). There is a kit you can buy for this conversion, which will give you the hardware. You'll need a complete Vtec head, by complete, I mean that it must have vtec cams, along with complete valve train. You must have a Vtec Distributor, as well as, a Vtec ecu or some kind of piggyback computer to activate vtec and adjust fuel accordingly, i.e. Apex-i vafc. You will also need TYPE-R or B16 pistons. Another thing worth mentioning, is that you will need a Fuel pump from a vtec b series motor. Also, if you want the most performance and reliability you should upgrade your water pump and oil pump to Vtec standards.
B16/B18c Water Pump ------ B18c Timing Belt
B18a/B18b Water Pump ----- B18a/B18b Timing Belt

Now, this is where you will need the help of a machine shop or trained professional. On your block, there will be two dowel pin holes that will need to be drilled out so that the block will except the head, this is a must, as the conversion will not be possible. These dowel pin holes will be located on the intake side. Your Ecu must be installed and you might need a OBD conversion harness depending on what ECU and engine you decide to use. You will also need someone (who knows what he or she is doing) to relocate a couple of pins on your harness to except what ever Ecu you will be using. Check out hasport or any other place that works with conversions.

Next, there will be an oil feed journal that must be tapped on the back of the block. It will be located to the left of the oil filter. You will have to run a oil line to the head from this location. This will provide the necessary oil to the head when the vtec activates. It will not activate without this, as vtec uses increased oil pressure to lock the vtec rod in place, this is located underneath the rockers in the head and when activated pushes a third rocker so that the larger lobe on the cam my be used, which yields higher lift and intern raises power. Plus, it sounds great.

Finally, on the top of the block, there will be an oil feed hole. This must be blocked, as it is no longer needed.

Bolt on your head, put the timing belt on, which must be from a LS motor if you used the stock water pump, and follow engine installation directions ( a manual such as helms or chiltons manual is a good Idea to have on hand), adjust any part or parts that may need it, Fill with fluids and fire it up.

C-speedracing.com has helpful info on this conversion in the "HOW-TO" section and would be a wise place to visit, before starting this project.
What I have said today is merly a guide on what will be invovled, They are not instructions by any means.

Good luck.
