driving gsr with no oil
There is a local salvage yard who is selling a 98 gsr for 4,800, but the engine has been siezed. He said that it has a clear title, but the owner was driving with no engine oil, and now the car won't start.
How much money would be neede to restore this car, to its best porformance.

4800 for a 98 integra body is pretty good. It's got all the seats and interior right? What kind of condition is it in?
I'm sure you could find a used b18c1 for under $3000, hows the tranny and how many miles are on the body?
I'd buy it

I wouldn't do it for $4800. I was pricing high milage running GSRs that were lower than that in IN, OH, IL, & WI. If you're willing/able to travel a little bit you could do much better.
If everything is ok but the engine, thats a forsure deal, and if the title is clean I'd but it and throw an engine in it and sell it for like 12,500. If I ever came across that I'd pick it up in a sec.

Sounds like someone's a bit behind on the current price of these automobiles. There was a 4 door GSR shell for sale in WI just last month...may well still be available for $1500. $4800 is not that great a deal w/ a blown motor.

$4800 is a good deal for a clean title 98 GSR with low miles and seized engine.
If its clean I'd pick it up, put a new engine in it. You got yourself an $7500 98 GSR with low miles hopefully.
And depending on miles you could get 12.5 for it.
I think timeoneX is a lowballer.

The car has a clean title according to the owner, and who cares if it has 200k miles on it if it's complete, clean, and rolls. You'd need a new engine anyway.
I'm not sure who this timeoneX fellow is but *I* personally like to get the best deal I can when I buy a car...or anything else for that matter. If I make an offer for something and the seller doesn't like it all they have to say is no. I don't bring a gun to the negotiation table. I paid $11,250 for my GSR BTW that was only 2 years ago. If I put it on the market right this second I wouldn't expect it to move briskly for more than $6k or so. These cars have simply dropped allot in market value since production ceased. Good for buyers bad for sellers. There was a 4dr GSR sold in Ohio last month for $4350 and I believe there's still another red 2dr for sale in OH for $4500 w/ 170k miles. I can get you the fellow's contact info if you're interested or you can simply pay more for a non-running car.
Makes no never mind to me.

ahahahha, good reply Timonex.
As for the price of the GSR's, the resale value is the whole reason why I'm turning my 96 into a dedicated racer. It's not worth buying an eg anymore, when the DC has dropped so much in value.

Lets say you spend $3000 on a b18c1 with 30kmiles, that'd be $7800 for a 98 GSR with low miles. This car is 2 years newer than yours, and you bought yours 2 years ago so this is a better deal than what you got! How many miles were on your car when you bought it may I asked?
I would seriously consider offering him 4k for it, and then putting an h22a into it or something...its got the 98+ body style --- in great condition...I'd seriously consider it.

Well, just for the heck of it I did a KBB value. I did consumer resale value, like if I were selling this car to someone (after I put a new motor in the shell).
I did my zip code, which happens to be a columbus ohio zip like you said you found cheap ones around here. I put down 50k miles, and the default set options (Also Excellent condition assuming it's good like you said. Price drops about $700 from Excellent condition, to good condition.). And the value was $11,185. So with less miles I'm sure someone would pay atleast that. But hey a car is only worth what someone will pay for it. It's a gamble, odds look good but hey. Wouldn't be a bad idea if you wanted to build a true race car though.

DEPENDS on where you live. GSR are in very high demand in some areas. Here in Northern CA, that car would be swiped up in a matter of days at that price.
