H-HAters
The problem that I see is that if you have a problem with one of their crated motors (aka it wasn't assembled properly) you should be able to bring it in to get it diagnosed at a premium or they have a policy that if you get a reputable shop to diagnose it and it deemed the engine builder's fault then they should front the bill to have it replaced and the labor to fix it. Most shops that I know would want to do the work internally so it's hours instead of $$.
Also, another thing that I see that's wrong with it is that Jeff, who owns importbuilders, was one of the huge supporters for the H22a motor. Always going on and on about it's potential. Now, it's a slap in the face for the H22 (since I'm assuming that most of the problems are electric) in the end. Though in the end, I've never really been impressed with the way the company has been run in any case. There are better shops in so-cal than importbuilders.

all I have to say is that import builders blows! I've heard bad stuff from them and I don't think that their shop is all that, afterall there not only shop that can build or tune a motor.

I agree w/ laughinxxx, it's true, like I said before... nobody besides prelude owners likes working on prelude engines. It really isn't in a shop's best interest to do it. Unless they are very familiar with the ins and outs of the engine and have previous experience with it, it's much more cost-effective for them to work on something else.
My friend owns a shop so he did the work for me, but yeah, his techs joke around w/ me, please no more prelude work. haha

Yes, and I vow never to do it again, and honestly, there were moments where I HATED my car... but I forgave it when it started boosting
It's not a problem it's just harder to work on. There are more brackets to remove and more comforts like PS, AC, and ABS to mess with and get around. It's just a big engine in a small, compact space.

So it's the *access* to the engine that they're bitching about, not any inherent flaw in the H22 itself.
my H made 667hp no problem I also build B's, our street car with a blown head gasket made 565hp and it a B. A motor's a motor and it doesnt matter what car its in. If a shop cant figure it out then ther jobs will be limited,
the way i see it is if their is more labor involved in doing a particular job on a car, then charge accordingly. dont abandon it becuase its more work. just charge for the work that you are doing. GR is the H series man!!!!oh and b series too. he built the street car too!!!
I actually have to agree with importbuilders on this one.......H series motors (and F series for that matter) are a MUCH bigger PITA than the B and D series......they have their processes specialized to mostly B series, and there are PLENTY of those to do work on......
At least they were specific about what they won't work on
Our shop just has a general policy that if you're a jackass or hardcore ricer we won't work on your car....
I've been to their shop and it's pretty normal and respectable as far as shops go
Cleanroom in the back for engines, in house dyno, etc......they had engines just sitting all over the place, which isn't my style, but whatever works....

The only problem i see with the timing belt change is the auto tensioner. But i changed mine to a h23 manual tensioner. Now its a breeze to work on...And mine is in a civic!!
