LS/Vtec, Which oil pump to use?
If you can afford it, get the b18c, it actually flows the most. Someposts the flowrates of all and it's somewhere in the archives. Sorry I don't have the link.
Also what about the water pump? Does this need to be repalced with a B18C also? I am also unsure of which timing belt to use. Ill be using a B16 head on a 1990 LS block.
Use one of the following oil pumps: ITR, CRV, GSR, but personally I'd go with a OBD1 Vtec pump so you can re-use the original timing belt cover. A 94-95 GSR Teg pump would do that for you. If you go with a CRV, or ITR pump you will have to get a different timing belt cover to match that style pump. Just a suggestion.
If you plan to run a Vtec water pump then you need the B18c timing belt because of the water pump drive pully diameter difference.
If you are sticking to the non-Vtec water pump you will need a B18B timing belt.
Why would you want the Vtec water pump over the non-Vtec pump? If you plan to turn higher rpms with this set up choose the Vtec pump. It slows down coolant flow to help heat transfer at higher rpms. If not stick to the non-Vtec pump.

I've been doing a lot of research lately to see what I will need to do. Each person that I've talked to or have read their set up does the LS/Vtec different than the next.
When I search for parts list I find what I need, but then I look at someone elses parts list it it seems to vary. This is why I have these questions.

u must use</B a vtec oil pump and water pump and a timing belt too!!!
LOL
All b motors use essentially the same pump just a different pressure spring.
All b18 vtec and non vtec pumps as well as b20b/z pumps that come on late
model cars and those sold from the dealer are all B18C pumps now.
The only important thing to remember about LS/VTEC setup is the water pump
has to match the timing belt. Oil pump doesnt matter so much.
by any chance..does anyone know the Part Number for the ITR Oil Pump??? 15100-P72-A01 is that correct? ive heard that 94~95 GSR haves different oil pumps from the 97~01 GSR/ITR's..?
