Default Si or GSR tranny for LS?

As the topic says, also which would be better for the B18B powerband, and what would be the max speed for each gear? I'm planning on running a mild set-up with mostly bolt-ons.

Thanks in advance.

The overall spacing is closer on the GSR tranny with the exception of 2nd gear. Gearing for the Si is shorter but has bigger drops in between each shift after 1-2. If its an option, i'd get a jdm final drive for the GSR tranny.

si trans is very short.....cruising at highspeeds sucks, but it also isnt all that great w/ the gsr trans. So basically its up to you on what you want, shorter gearing???

You think that an SI tranny will be too harsh on the engine for daily/freeway driving?

I think with the Si tranny, your at about 4,500 rpm or so in 5th gear going 80. Now imagine constantly having your car at 4,500 rpm while driving in the freeway...
guess some things come at a price

I wouldn't want to have to roll 4500 RPMS on an LS motor just to go 80. With the GSR tranny you'd be at 4k, which is still high but sounds better to me. If you don't give a damn, go with the SI tranny. You will definitely accelerate better with it.

I dont know too much about trannys. I myself may be getting an SI tranny pretty soon hopefully. BTW I have a turbo setup.

What if I were to put a gsr 5th gear in the SI tranny? that will make my highway crusing rpm lower correct?

here we go again . . humor us , why shouldnt he go with shorter gearing . . . prepare to get flambeyed

Oh yea and Si gearign is simliar to the R and the R is 4250 at 80mph. trust me its not that bad. . . i rather have it that way and know with the slightest twitch of myfoot the car will take off rather than me stom;ping on it and having the car being sluggish to bring the rpms's up to where it counts.
Im sorry , but im sooo sikc of the myths with longer gearing and bosot and blah blah blah . . . . try trying it rather thna reciting bullshit you read on the internet.
I have tried it and know what works.

Hes not joking...correct me if im wrong but an LS tranny would be beter for turbo because you wouldnt go through ur gears as fast.The long gears would let you hold boost longer

You silly man

The ignorance

Tell how that statement makes sense. When u say I will be in boost longer, does it mean that my boost will drop off somewhere with a shorter gears? no.

Look at it this way.

me = GSR TRANNY - 80mph aprox. 4000 rpm
you = LS TRANNY - 80mph aprox. 3000 rpm

Same engine config:

Both of us floor it at the same time. Im closer to my power band and will obviously hit full boost faster and smoke your ***. This scenario can be used for any gear.

Your LS will "hold boost longer" because your needle on the tach is climbing slower towards your redline, while a shorter geared tranny will zip right up......in other words, the faster you climb rpm, the faster you accelerate. Also my shorter gearing will spool my turbo faster, and when I shift I will remain in a desireable powerband, while you will drop out........

blah blah blah sorry for this little off the top of my head rant, but I cannot stand hearing poor delusioned people tell me to get an LS transmission. Dont fall to the internet myths!

And yes I corrected you since you are wrong

Someone on this board said they installed an ITR tranny and it didnt make any difference in his 1/4 mile times,And a couple people say with the exception of the 1-2 shift there is no advantage in this tranny besides the Limited slip as far as straight line speed.Can anyone elaborate?

i cant belive people STILL belive this silly myth.

so would turboing a civic DX make me faster than a GSR because "ill be in boost longer?" hell why not get a custom 3 speed made up, ill be in boost way longer, so that means i MUST be faster, right?

Im debating the same thig (grs or ls) tranny??? This is what i have herd from people so far GSR motor with a LS tranny cause it has longer gears and would be better with a turbo... Also if i put a gsr tranny in my ls engine bay i would have to bend my frame out a little to make it fit.. currently I have a LS motor and tranny... soo your opinion please?? -Jess
