Oxidation on all 1994 Integras?..
Hey guys, anyone notice that 94-97 integras always have oxidation of paint on the hoods, roof and trunk? All my paint on my roof and trunk are eatin away by oxidation.. looks like a bunch of white blotches and it just looks terrible... anyone else experience this? Was it because of cheap honda paint? because i have taken great care of my paint.. .. oh well.. time for a paint job..
Maybe it's b/c these are the earlier years, and in a few years the 98s and up will begin to oxidize
It's funny that you say 94-97 though, b/c when I bought my 97 gsr it was like perfect except for a 1" spot on my spoiler that was begining to oxidize. Also, I've noticed that all RED integras lose their deep red color overtime and start looking like faded red, almost pinkish.. but I think that is how it is w/ all red cars just b/c of the mixture that goes into creating a red color

It's pretty normal imo. Red tends to show it more than other colors though. Try some oxidation removers. Like Klasse or Zaino.

ya i have a red 94 LS and it is startin to look pretty pink...i just keep it waxed and out of the sun untill i can paint it but that comes after all the turbo prp. + the turbo. go before show
I have no problems w/ my 94 Paradise Blue/Green Pearl oxidizing. But this is a problem that I have heard of. One product I would suggest is the above mentioned Klasse all-in-one. That is some g00t stuff!

My paint still looks brand new, but it's also always been garage-kept and waxed 5-6 times a year. I hope this isn't a very common problem, becasue if it is something wrong with Honda's paint, all of the waxing in the world won't prevent it! I'm good to go for now though.

I've got a 95 GSR with the Pardise Blue Green Pearl and have not experienced any problems with oxidation. I keep it waxed but it's parked outside. When I'm not lazy I cover it with a car cover. I have only saw one other PBG Teg and the paint had oxidation on every surface, it really looks like crap. Whatchout though, the clearcoat is very thin on these cars. PBGP represent! LOL.
i had to get my whole car repainted it was black and i experienced all of the same problems and this was back in 99...with my 94 ....anybody know if the dealerships can be held accountable for this flaw.
one thing...stay away from any rubbing compounds...they do a good job removing oxidization but scratch the crap out of your clear coat....i havent heard of the klaisse product...yet ill prb try it out considering i do all my freinds detailing...and ya red sucks for oxidization....but put in the time and effort and your car will look money!
try clay? not sure if that would work because I don't really understand what you mean.
Oxidation is removed via abrassives. The abrasives remove the dead (oxidized) paint, and leave fresh paint behind.
Again, white splotches sound like cracked and failing clearcoat.
Ya my cousin has that paradise blue green pearl and the oxidation on his car is pretty bad he says is from the airplanes cuz he lives next to the airport is this true?

No problems with my Paradise Blue Integra, just rock chips everywhere on the front end.
Milano Red Hondas in particular look bad when they fade, because the paint is actually an orange-ish base coat with a purple-tinted clearcoat. When the clear fades, the red looks more pink. My friend just got his MR Civic resprayed with S2000 New Formula Red and it looks soooo nice.

I had he front end on the 'teg painted 2 years ago and need to have the roof and trunk painted now. It looks horrible! I've got the eggplant color.

yea every integra around my area has some sort of clear coat faliure.. oxidation.. whatever you want to call it on their integra's.... seems like this is the type of stuff that Honda/Acura should take account for because there are cars that are older than my 94 integra and they still have great paint finishes.. example, my dad's 83 corolla's paint job is as new and shiny as it was back when he bought it new.. he never ever washes it btw.... anyone wanna take Acura to court for this.. ?
when i bought my teg the top of the car (hood, roof, rear hatch) has been repainted. i guess the top got oxidized as well.
now it looks like **** because half the car has fresh paint the the bottom has the factory duller paint.

I'm having the same problem with my black 95. I'd say about 1/4 of my hood has a white patch growing on it and it seems to be getting worse. The same thing is happening on the roof and hatch. This is a problem Honda/Acura has had for a while. My brother had a red 89 G1 Integra and it had the same problem.

I have the same problem also on my 94 Isle Green Pearl Integra. My hood, trunk, and roof has oxidation. I already had my roof and hood repainted due to the oxidation. I'm going to forget the trunk.
I wash my car every week or 1.5 weeks and wax it every month too....dam cheap honda paint

Its not oxidation
Its clearcoat failure
Oxidation can be easily removed with a mild abrasive, since the oxidized paint sits at the very top layer of the clearcoat. Scrubbing that oxidized paint off exposes fresh healthy paint.
Clearcoat failure can not be fixed by abrasives, as it is the clearcoat cracking, pealing, being non-existant, etc
