Is an 10lb flywheel and aluminum crank pulley worth the money or should I buy something else with the money?

 

can't tell you about the pulley but a flywheel is well worth your money. The car feels so much quicker... throttle response is a lot faster and jumpier. i love my CM flywheel, that and the clutch (act XTSS) were the best things i've done for my car.

 

It kinda depends on what you wanna do w/ the car for the flywheel. The only thing i've heard they're really good for is autox, and that stock's better for drag and daily driving.

 

the one I have on my b16 did not seem to make much difference that is why i'm not sure about buying one for my h22. the one on my b16 is an 8lb and still no difference. not sure why I don't feel a difference.

 

I love my Fidanza, the center is replaceable.....It's worth getting, definately spools the rpm quickly

 

If im not mistaking an 8lb flywheel will cause you to lose torque because of the weight, very light flywheels tends to lose torque and I've heard that aluminum flywheels are prone to break.

 

got a dyno to back that up ? until you do don't spread mis-information...

Im useing an Indigoo aluminum flywheel(8lbs), i could tell a big difference with the before and after while spraying nitrous. My car accerlerates so much quicker, I dont think they add horsepower but help free up space for horse power.

I wanted to add something also, i dont know about other flywheels but Indigoo uses a ballbearing o-ring piece(you know what i mean) in the small hole in the center.

WERD im a CM FW owner too, what this guy heard was BS, big improvement.

 

IMO, the only real measurable benefit of these very light flywheels is better throttal response and an "initial" jump in acceleration, meaning...when you initially get on the gas.

 

they will help a good bit
save on some weight also..

sometimes i wonder... they should mark all the parts iwth serial numbers and when people ask stuff like how.. we could post our serial numbers and say what we think... those "Well from what i read bla bla bla" can simply just go away..

i get's pretty anoying yes....

it's all the newbies and stuff trying to sound smart...

 

I have a clutch master flywheel paried with a 6-puck ClutchNet clutch ... noticed a BIG difference from my current setup compared to my o.e. clutch and flyhweel. I can actually launch my car now... Before my clutch would just slip... well worth the money imo. I got my flyhweel for under $300 shipped. Check on eBay find good deals all the time...

you sir have hit the answer right on the head. a light weight flywheel does add in accelleration but you lose torque esspecially during your shifts since you have less roitating mass since one of the major uses for a flywheel is to keep your crank moving and aide in engine speed. take your car to the track with an 8 lbs flywheel and watch an identical setup pull harder off the line. also pay attention to the difference in the rpm drop when you shift between gears thats where it will be most noticible.

 

what is the wieght of the itr flywheel compared to the rest? is it okay to lighten then stock one up? thanks

 

i personally am putting a zex 10lb flywheel on my h22 because i have the tranny off for one and i am not able to get traction anywhere on my launch and with a lighter flywheel it wont transfer so hard on the launch and i will hopefully get a good launch. just for some insight, i wouldnt reccomend an aluminum flywheel because they warp and break due to heat. spend the extra cash the first time on a chromoly flywheel and dont worry about having to replace it further down the road.

Do you have some sort of dyno chart to prove that you actually loose torque??You dont loose torque,I really dont know why people think that,but its not torque that you are loosing.what You loose is the inertia the flywheel builds up when you rev your engine.Depending on how you drive and launch at the track,It does make a difference,sure,a car with a stock flywheel will initially launch harder......but,what happens once the car gets traction and the clutch grips the plate???Now the car has to over come the weight of the flywheel and the weight of the car to rev up in rpms.the less weight on the flywheel will make the car accelerate faster once the car is moving and the engine has to rev up from the lower rpms.i do notice myself that the engine does not yank the car like before on take off,but regardless,my car does accelerate quicker than before.

Torque.....whats that??? I drive a Honda..

Everyone who is saying you lose torque...doesn't have a lightened flywheel..

I run a 8.5 Fidanza..This is the best mod ever done to my vehicle..

Ever driven your H22, then hopped in a B-series car??
Sure your H22 has a gang of torque, but it takes a while to get there.

B-series on the other hand, is alot more responsive..My H now feels like a B-seires..

Throttle response is instantaneous, getting to vtec is no problem.

IMO this is the best mod for H-series motors.

 

My flywheel (CM)and exedy clutch is going in tonight, I will post back about how it feels.

 

...running my exedy clutch and fidanza 8.5lbs flywheel combo for ~ 20k miles (including 3 track days), and love it; however, i now want a 6lbs. flywheel. i've gotten used to 8.5 lbs. anyway, this is the BEST thing you can do to your h22, 100%. all those morons that yap about losing torque have never driven an h22 with a lightened flywheel, and are just regurgetating what they've 'heard', 'read', of what their uncle, baby moma, roomate's, homie told them, y0!

get it, don't think twice, and enjoy it.


about the crank pulley. don't do it. they're pieces of ****.
and, for reference, look at this photo:


see that? that's stephen p's drag h22 car, and, lo and behold, it's running a stock crank pulley. leave your oem **** as it is!! you'll thank me later.
