Questions about '99 Honda Accord coupe LX
I just got a nice one, used, 5-spd and I'm already itching to mess with it. I had some n00b questions about it:
-What is the spline diameter on the steering wheels? I was wondering if steering wheels from other Hondas (i.e. the 2003 Accords, or S2000) would fit here... I also have a nice Hyundai steering wheel that I got as a gift.. I doubt that would fit though would it?
-Is it possible to upgrade the rear brakes to discs? How big of a job would this be? (Like, what parts would need to be replaced, and at what cost?) Say, would I be able to just rip the discs off an EX and shoehorn it in there?
-How well does the 4-cyl. respond to simple bolt-on mods? i.e. how much does HP does the typical CAI gain? (some cars, like BMWs/Porsches, gain close to none, or even lose power whereas the Hyundai I had gained close to 15HP)
That's all for now... lookin forward to talking with all you fellow accord owners!

cai have a okay-poor gain, obd2 sucks.
but it's only my butt dyno.
other bolt on are not very impressive at all.
disc brake swap wont be easy if you have all the parts.
good luck finding a calipers on ex.
no sure about hyundai steering wheels, the problem is not fitment but
air bag i guess.

For rear disks, you basically need the disk, hub, and calipers. pull the rear knuckle assembly off an EX at a junkyard and you will have pretty much everything you need.
CAI is like 5 hp. headers are like 5 HP but it is over a farly large RPM range so its better than it sounds like. cam gear will get you decent gains in HP but you have to give up bottom end for high rpms. pullys are a good mod for the money.
no idea on the hyundai steering wheel. is it an actual hyundai wheel or is a something like a momo with a hyundai adapter?

I just realized the EX use a 5 bolt pattern instead of the 4 bolts of the LX... Won't that be a problem?
The car already has a 5Zigen exhaust. With that combined with the intake, can I expect a little more?
Thanks for the replies.

V6 have 5x114.3mm (5x4.5") bolt pattern
All 4cylinders use 4x114.3mm
Don't bother converting to rear disc. My EX blows through rear pads and the disc didn't add much to stopping power compared to the LX drums. Accords are just way heavy. Your money would be better spent on braided lines and performance pads instead of swapping to rear discs.

yes, all 4 cyl. 6th gen have 114.3x4 bolt pattern
and yes again, I wont do a swap just for the little stuff that you prolly cant
feel. just get some brembo blank in front with some good pad.
only 30 percent of stopping power from behind.
as for intake, i personally have some aem knock off's, what is the total hp you gonna get for 180- 200? 3-5?

It came with the car, so I can't be sure.
Looking at the 5Zigen website, it looks like the fireball.. And looking at the list of applications, it doesn't look like they make a full exhaust for accord 4cylinders, so this must only be the rear muffler kit.

universal or catback you mean?
it's the muffler only, i think it's this one - the FB-CF4 on

it certainly looks like that one.
why do you ask? is it any good?
