Well, we all know technically our motor won't rev that high, but I'm 99% sure that I've had occasions where my needle will flick near the 8k mark (slightly before it) when I do my 1-2 shift. I seldomly do it though (racing situations only) and it hasn't hit a limiter or affected the way my engine runs or anything yet (but yeah I know it probably isn't that good)--all I know is that I'm planted firm at 5600-5700 in second gear when it grabs
. The tach could be off and that's why I'm seeing that, but who knows, I could just be halucinating during my fast shifts

Yes, out tachs. are off a decent bit. WE can shift at the 8k mark, i never do though. My afc reads about 150rpm lower then my stock tach.

what's so bad about shifting at 8k on stock tachs? if the rev-limiter is there to stop you from going any further how can shifting at 8k on stock tach hurt? afterall in reality you're only shifting at about 7600 rpms.
I shift my Lude at 8k, right before cut-off. Same thing on my Celica, I shift at 8300, right before cut-off at 8400. Both of my cars run great, the limiter is there for a reason, so that you wouldn't go higher than it is safe to go.

Most Preludes that I have seen with a VAFC shift at 8k down the track and their VAFC's show right around 7600rpm max for that run.
) . When I saw it bounce off the needle went just a tiny bit past the 8K mark before dropping down. Hasn't happened to me on the road though.
i've bounced it racing on accident, in 1st lol. Pushed it a little too long. Look at it this way, it took a guy i know over an hour to kill his 91 civic DX by bouncing it off the revv limiter. They put a brick on the peddle and filmed it. after the first time it "died", they tried to start it and it came back to life, so they fed the coolent line into the intake... the engine gave out a couple minutes later
