flywheel resurfacing

how can u tell if a flywheel needs resurfacing

its common practice to resurface the flywheel whenever you replace the clutch/pp. get a runout indicator, and spin the flywheel, on a lathe or whatever, and see how much runout it has, test in several places on the flywheel and spin it.
