I was driving home after feeling my tank and i just wanted to drive a little fast to kick in the vtec. (You know everyone does this every now and then). But anyways i was goin to 7 grand and i shift to second and it started luggin, like jerkin forward. My RPM gauge was goin a little crazy to. I just got my car and my old Lude never did that and i drove it a lot lot lot harder and it had like 30,000 more miles. Did i just shift wrong?

check your oil. check all the lines. is it throwing a code?

 

Just changed my oil. I didnt check the lines, which ones? And what do you mean by throwing a code? DOes that have to do with the ECU? It seems to run fine besides that incident.

When we say did it throw a code we mean did it throw a check engine light(CEL)...to check it count how many times it flashes and post it on here..someone will know what codes are what and youre question will be answered...hopefully

 

you sure you didn't go past 7k? sounds like you hit the rev limiter.

 

car is in "limp" mode maybe?

 

Did you fill up the tank with a 91 or higher octane level? This probably isn't the problem, but I remember my Prelude ran sluggish after leaving a gas station once when I first bought the car. I forgot to read the owner's manual for gas requirements and put 87 octane in. I don't think it jerked around really hard or anything though, so you can disregard my comment if it's offbase (it's the brandy talkin )

I was just driving home and it was runnin fine. I took it to 8 grand and it did good. I think maybe i did some bad shifting or something happened and i didnt notice it. No, no lights come on like the check engine light. THanks for all the info.

umm, just kind of an add on to this post.. is there a way to tamper with the rev limter to set it to a lower rmp?
