vtec / si del sol differences
Are there any differences in the interior of a vtec and si del sol besides redline on the tach? She can't explain the motor. The reason I ask is this lady I work with is wanting to sell her del sol, and she doesn't recall if it's a vtec or si (It's not here at work). I want that b16.
the si's are vtec sohc for the 93 i know for sure
the del Sol vtec comes with a B16 dohc vtec and 8000 redline.
the del Sol si comes with the D16 sohc vtec and 7200 redline.
As for interior differences, there isn't much, other than the clusters.

Ask her if it came with the 5 spoke 14" alloys. Those were one of the things from the Del Sol VTEC models.
If she's local, ask if you can check it out and pop the hood. If she cares to look, just ask her to pop the hood and see if what the engine says (hopefully DOHC VTEC).. She's a lady just trying to sell her car, I'm sure she doesn't know any better and won't jack up the price or anything

Have her look at the rear of the vehicle near the right side of the trunk lid. If theres somthing that says "VTEC" on it, then its the Del Sol VTEC dohc model.
see what the seats look like. the vtec models have black with red stripes or only black. if the seats have a blue or green stripe they are for sure an si. if not then have her look at the tach to differentiate. or u could use the idea of popping the hood
First, find out what year it is. If its a 93, its not a DOHC VTEC. There are no interior differences between the Si and VTEC models aside from the tach scale. Exterior wise, both Si and VTEC models had alloys wheels stock. The VTEC had 195 series tires, bigger front brakes, rear sway bar (Si from 96-97 did too).......
The DOHC VTEC had a bigger exhaust tip, the Si looked like a 92-95 Civic EX tip (smaller polished top).
HTH!

The VTEC has ABS and came with a "dohc VTEC" decal on the back and for the guy that said sumthin bout the seats and the guy that said sumthin bout the wheels. I have a 94 Si, it came with 5 spoke alloy wheels and i also have black seats w/ red stripe. Im sure u will easily be able to find out what model it is but im wondering is, how are u positive that its not an S model??!

my sol is an si and was originally red with a read stripe on the seat
just my 2
All he was saying about the seats was that the VTEC model only came in three colors. If you have a Captiva Blue or Samba Green then it's not going to be the VTEC. It was only offered in Milano Red, Black and a type of forest green. That should narrow it down a little and clear up some confusion too.

all vtec models did not come with abs.
easy way to tell what model it is, is by asking for the VIN number and doing a check.
