Default How hard is it to change the gears in an H23 tranny??

to H22 gears. From what I was told..2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears are different. Is it easy/cheap to do this?? The reason why I ask is because I have an extra H23 tranny that I want to make into an H22 tranny.
Thanks

You will have to open each tranny up (obviously)...then lift out each main & countershaft...
I dont remember if you are indeed able to slide 2,3 and 4 off each shaft without a press...but i don't believe so. That means that you will have to take both pairs of shafts to a machine shop...where you will have them press the gears off the main and countershaft, and swap what you want, then repress them on.

Make sure that the shafts are the same length, etc. and remember which gears came from which shaft. To help out honda has put marking on each gear for identication. Mark down the groove locations on a sheet of paper, then check to see if it was done right when you get them back from the machine shop.

Hope that helps...it's not that easy of a job (unless you have done it before)
