A friend of mine is supercharging his 03 s2000, but he is not sure now of what kind to get. At first he was thinking vortech, but it does not have a waranty, so now he is thinking comptech. Does anyone have any experience with these two?

 

Road & Track tested a Vortech-equipped S2K and the 1/4 dropped by 3/10 of a second from 14.1 to 13.8. I think SCC got the same results when they tested the comptech S2k. Their dyno graph showed peak hp at 9000 rpm and peak torque at 8000 rpm. the torque curve looked pretty weak.

the s2k motor is sooo high strung. To use a supercharger with a 9000rpm redline and not have 20psi of boost at redline they have to gear it really low so it wont make alot of low end power.

Supercharging a s2k just doenst make any sense. Its all about a turbo. A correctly sized turbo would be SICK...awesome lowend power and good a top end.

If your going to spend $10k on a comptech supercharger pay a shop $10k to do a custom turbo install.

I hear drag is making a s2k kit shortly too right?

nothing like a 550hp+ turbo runninig 8psi making 320whp on a 2litre honda...

A better sized turbo on that motor would make better numbers...like in the torque catagory where its needed most in the s2ks case.

Yeah, those guys do some awesome work - especially in the fab dept. Considered going to them to have my turbo created/installed for a couple minutes, but one they were very $pendy and two, I figured I'm just going to do it myself... Anyways, good eye candy indeed.

 

They`re 4k, I have one. Hasn`t thrown a code in 3 years and runs great. Plus, install is less than 2 hours. Bottom line: s2k isn`t meant to be drag raced.

speedcraft really isnt all that great.....I used to live right down the road from their shop, before they had their dyno and all that stuff. I had them do a custom exhaust for me and the welds sucked harder than jenna jameson on nickle tuesdays! It was also very expensive. I know they did a mustang that was really well known, but I think the name of the shop was chassis craft or something stupid like that....just be carefull, if it looks like you dont know what you are talking about they will take advantage and charge you up the ***.

 

im not gonna say the hand full of storys why to stay away from speedcraft, but i assure you they would never touch my car
