school me!! i dont understand compresion ratio's
im just tryin to build up knowledge. ok i know what compresion is and how u get it. and i know the diffrence between high and low compresion. what stumps me is like the ratio's. i dont understand them. liek for example the b18c1's compresion is 10.0:1. im clueless. any help would be apreciated. thnx
compression ratio is simple...think of it as units....when the piston compresses the air/fuel...the amount sucked in is then compressed....so, 10 parts air/fuel compressed into 1. Take 10 slices of bread and compress them into 1. Same concept. The more compressed, the more power. BAM< Emeril voice>
ok i think i kinda got it now. so the more a/f u compress, the higher the fisrt digit of the ratio goes. and when u say 'into one'...is that meaning one cylinder?

"one" dosn't refer to the cylinder. The compression ratio is a relation between two numbers. The first being how many units are uncompressed and the second being how many units the first number is compressed into.

. think of it as units...nothing else
