Default Accel DFI vs. Hondata 4b

Well, I'm building another race car, and this time it's not going to have the stock ECU and I'll rely on a stand alone EMS. I found a good deal on a bought, but never used Accel DFI for $750, but have heard things like you have to activate VTEC with a manual switch, etc when using it. I was really leaning toward Hondata, but this seems like a pretty good deal.

What should I know about the DFI that I don't right now, same with the Hondata.

The Vtec isnt manually activated by a switch, its wired to a relay, thats all.. and....Yeah, definately find out what gen DFI it is, that is key, if its 7.0, scoupe it up, scoupe it up anyway, i run 6.0 in my racecar..

You run the vtec off a relay with the nitrous output. I dont like to run it that was as accel is notorious for burning that pin out. Your better off running it off like a msd ign. switch of something. You wont have to mess with a relay either, it will just give off a power signal unlike the ground from the dfi.

I hope for $750 it comes with the harness because if it's just the brain then it's not a good deal. Also find out if it's Gen 6 or Gen 7. If it's just the brain and it's gen 7 then you might want to pick it up. If it's Gen 6 and it doesn't include the harness, 750 is too much for it.

Psss.. If it doesn't include the harness and it's a Gen 6 then shoot me an IM. I have tons of those that I can give to you cheaper.

Or if you want Hondata, I can provide that for you too.
