Looking for a reputable bay area auto machine shop for headwork and also to fabricate a throttle plate.
Any local people have any suggestions?
I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

I'll second his recommendation...although Lawrence sends all of his headwork out to Tom of Portflow(no problem there), can't wait to see the friends 2.0L Type-R that they're finishing...
i'll third that. they might use another machine shop, but lawrence knows his stuff. he could easily help you out with all your problems, recommend some setups, and even do the install, + dyno the car. if you're far from san jose, it's worth the drive. i drove from richmond to meet up with him, which isn't as far as santa rosa, but i'd do it again in a heartbeat because he's the only guy up in the bay area i trust with my car.
Hhmmm im about an hour and a half from san jose and Ive been looking for a good machine shop to build up my block... How are there prices?? How much would it cost for them to bore/hone, put in new bearings, put in my pistons and balance the block? Sounds like they do good work.

Austin
I had my bottom end dis-assembled, .025 bore, new bearings and new pistons (I supplied), balanced, blueprinted and re-assembled.
VERY fair price ,and top notch work.. as told by my HP numbers.
WORTH the drive.. its 2 hours from me as well, and I didnt even have a second thought as to where to go. IMO, there is NO WHERE else I would have gone.

Yep. I drive an hour to see Lawrence each time. And every time, it's worth it, as he teaches you a lot about your own car, tells you his honest opinions, and lets you know what to do. Seriously, just talking to this guy is worth it, and not just on the phone. Do it in person, so he can show you how stuff works, etc...
Hey chris if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost you to do that to your block? that is exactly what i want to do to mine... thanks a lot.

I've been to Dsr to tune primarily. I'm looking for a good automotive machine shop to do the work in a 3 day or less down time.
So far M&M Cylinder head services in Hayward and Amaral's Machine in Fremont (next to Bozz Performance) are familiar with honda heads with performance in mind.
Thanks for the input though
I'll be seeing Lawrence to tune sometime soon when I run a S200.

I talked to a guy at the drag races in January who got all his work done at DNR, I think he said they were in Hayward, here is their number 510-783-5200
