Ok. I got me a 3" inch ITR AEM CAI for my Skunk2 Intake Manifold.

The thing is, I have a GS-R AEM CAI, and I was wondering if I could take off the CARB Sticker on that and replace it over the ITR CARB Sticker.

Has anyone tried this? Does it come off easily? Does it stick? LMK!




Also, the New ITR CAI has this decal on the intake that reads "AEM Intake System", instead of the standard "AEM" decal. Why is this? Does all the new AEM CAI's have this Decal instead?

 

i am confused why change the stickers?? but if you use a heat gun correctly it will work very well. im a pro at using those damn things

did you buy the itr cai used?
if so it may not be real cuz im pretty sure all aem intake have carb stickers..

Just out of curiousity why do you want to put the gsr carb # over the ITR carb #?
Its legal either way... Isnt it??

thats a weird *** "AEM INTAKE" sticker. i never seen that. but im from the old skool.

 

yeah the new intakes come with that weird sticker on it...i guess for a bling factor or something...but thats supposed to look like that

 

i'm not understanding what you want to do... why do you want to stick ur gsr carbsticker over the itr one??

 

Probably cause if the ref stations actually check up the codes, they'll notice its for an ITR and not for a GSR.

edit: I wonder if that would make a difference. But i guess its sorta like saying, are ITR cams smog legal in a gsr? If the ref station could visually check that, you'd be failed immediately.

Exactly. The Ref's here check the Code. If its not made for the Car and Year, then he won't pass you. Hence, if I took off the GS-R CARB Sticker and put it on the ITR CAI, then even if he checks the Code, then it will be ok.

 

Yup. Still on my car. My GS-R intake probly has 4000 miles on it only. It's in MINT condition tho. Wanna buy it after I take it off?

 

since no carb number...i would saw no...unless its a damn good deal...cause I am really lookin for one with a sticker

My suggestion is to go to a ref station that doesn't check the code. Some of them just check to see if its there.

or, you can always find a shop who can "hook you up" for a slight extra charge.

 

Going to the California Referee station is different from just going to a local "smog" shop. They're alot more strict. As in, you can't get the hook up even if you had a million dollars.

 

true that. i was thinking of passing smog. my bad. u can always change back to stock...id be worried more bout the cams then the intake, affecting the exhaust output, not just being carb legal.

 

my bad... I'm not goin to the Ref... I was just talkin about the Smog Test. But some Smog Shops check the numbers too.

 

I didn't take off the Sticker yet... and I don't know if I will. Would you buy it if it came with everything including the CARB Sticker?

 

if your just going to the smog idiots just use the itr sticker for now and if they do check which i doubt...then you just go back later on with the other sticker...dont risk ******* up the sticker just yet...i doubt you will ever have to deal with a ref unless a cop sends yah or u build a hybrid...refs suck

 

That is one damn clean engine bay! I wish my AEM CAI still looked that good. I've dropped **** on it when wrenching on the car, and there are little dings and scratches on it

 

why are you worried if you have a 2000 gsr? is it smog time?
