Default axle help

trying to change out a screwed up axle and just wanted to know if anyone
had any idea of how to loosen a stiff bolt. I have lubricated it and use a
24" breaker bar and still can't get it to budge. I have been able to pick the
car off the ground with the breaker bar. But still to no avail. Any ideas I am
thinking of getting an impact driver to do the deed.

Which bolt are you talking about? the big nut on the hub? If so ,make sure you "unstake" that nut. You'll notice it has a dentation in it to keep it from becoming loose.

Hey didn't notice you were in Ma. - Hopefully you are in a garage doing this repair and not oustide with all this ******' snow!!

Dentation or not, a good impact drill will work well. If you insist with the breaker bar, you'll need at least 36", and you'll have to stand on it.

at 6'5" 280lbs the stepping on it did not work. Trust me I moved the car about 3 feet
with the parking break on and 4 people in the car. I think the impact wrench might
be the only way.

have any fat friends?
try sticking another pole over the breaker bar so you'll have more leverage.
hmm, wd-40? maybe...
good luck...

the swap is doing just fine it's just that my battery keeps quitting on me. I know
that it's because my altenator belt is slipping but this is really starting to **** me
off.

I have a lot of big friends and jumping on it doesn't usually work either. My solution is using the pole from the jack and sliding it over the 24" breaker bar. It's always worked for me.

i MOSTLY use impact wrenches...but i had one that the indent appeared to be out of it....i ended up having to take a hammer and chisel to split part of the nut since it was all screwed up inside...even then i still ahd to put a 36 inch pipe over and 18 inch breaker bar and stand on the brakes while my buddy worked on it...along with lots of penetrating oil, and going back and forth with the impact wrench....
