timing belt tensioner

Default timing belt tensioner

has anybody done this before? I have a whining noise comming from the motor, honda said it might be the timing belt tensioner. has anybody changed this before?

yea man i have doen the timming belt on the lude before.... it sucks... it isnt as bad as u may thing tho... the squeeling is the tentioner is pressing to hard on the belt.. see on the prelude honda put a hydrolic tentioner. From what u are saying the tentioner is probally stuck out in its fully extended possition and tighting the belt to tight.... if u need to no how to change the belt let me no i have the book with good pics and instructions.

Yea i've changed mine before. You might as well convert to the h23 tensioner. If you are not mechanically inclined, then let someone else do it for you. Do a search for it. Good Luck!

how much does the h22 auto tensioner cost and how much does the h23 manual tensioner cost?mine is due also and people keep telling me to go with the h23 manual tensioner because they say its better but they dont elaborate as to why....

also, rexor, when does yours make the whining sound, acceleration? deceleration? or both or what>? cause mine is gradually starting to get louder the more miles i put on, but it seems as if when the car is cold it does it a little louder than when the car is warmed up, is this how yours is?

i just get it after i hit vtec, and when im at idle i rev it a bit, and hear that whining. but then i drive for like a minute or so, it goes away.

my belt broke 5week ago and my car is still setting in the drive way.i need the book and pic how to put the belt back on if u can email it to me ss1320prelude@yahoo.com or post it up on here (do both) thanx
