Default Greddy customer service...

See previous thread about down-pipe fitment here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=417707

While I'd be the last person to bash Greddy (the kit is excellent, and it's probably my fault that I can't make the downpipe fit), their customer service sure sucks a big one.

I called their tech department up today after twisting and turning and fighting with the downpipe for about 30 minutes. The first couple of guys I talked to were nice enough, but I eventually ended up talking to "Charles" and he was pretty much a dick and a half from the get-go.

I explained the situation, that I was having a problem bolting up the cat to the down-pipe, and that the way I had it mounted now the downpipe outlet was about an inch too far towards the driver's side to actually bolt up straight with the cat and that I couldn't see any other way to mount the down-pipe. I also told him that the bolt holes on the flange of the DP were rotated too far to bolt up with the cat. At first he was telling me to force it, unbolt the DP from the turbo outlet and loosen everything up and force it on then tighten it down (which I did from the beginning). I explained to him that I had done that already and it produced the results I described in my other post (crooked muffler banging on the bumper in the back and mid-section of my exhaust hitting my floor pan).

After this, he started talking rudely about how I was the only person who had ever had this problem and that it must be me or I have something installed wrong. I told him I had double-checked everything and would triple check, but I was pretty certain everything was bolted up right. He started telling me about how I should have someone hold the exhaust while I tighten everything down and when I explained the fact that the exhaust would just shift back because it was on rubber hangers he got pretty nasty telling me how it WOULD work and how he's been doing this for 13 years and I had no idea what I was talking about.

That was about where I decided I didn't want to talk with him anymore, so I just told him that he'd be hearing from me again if it didn't work. It still doesn't work, even after having a friend hold onto the exhaust. Once I tighten everything down, the rubber hangers stretch and the whole exhaust shifts to the passenger side so the muffler ends up hitting my bumper. I'm not sure if I'm going to call back or not yet, as I'm kinda pissed and I don't think that would make matters any better.

To be honest I was kind of shocked. I called up looking for some help. I was pretty convinced before I called that it might've just been something I mounted wrong or maybe they had some suggestions (like above, loosen everything and try again), not that the kit was defective or the DP design was faulty, but he just assumed that was what I was getting at and he got really defensive and beligerent about it.

Way to go guys. I've been pretty happy with all the Greddy stuff I've bought in the past, so it's going to be a tough decision to buy from them again... but if they're so rude on the phone when all I was doing was calling for some help, what can I do? Doesn't really make me confident that if I ever have a problem with a different product that they'll be helpful at all

i truthfully had the similiar problems, after after pushing on the exhaust tip, me and my brother were able to bolt on the downpipe. it did not look like it was going to fit, but soon it did. I kinda agree pushing on the exhaust should make it work, but i am not sure on the exhaust hanging differently. Which type of exhaust do you have?

I'm using the Tanabe Super Hyper Medallion cat-back with the stock cat. The guy I talked to insists that the down pipe outlet ends up in the EXACT location as the stock one, but I'm not so sure... I never had this problem with the stock header now did I?
