Can I convert a D16Z6 distributor to fit a D16Y8 head by....
d16z6 distributor=d16y8 distributor
the only difference is the plugs
not sure why you would want to put the guts into a EF dizzy? More info needed.

Because I can get a junk EF distributor for free, I already have a good z6 distributor and the EF will bolt right to the Y8 head. the z6 distributor does not bolt to the y8 head.

I guess your right....lol. That's strange that a d15b8 dizzy will bolt up to a y8 but a z6 won't.
You should be able to transplant the guts to the EF, they should be the same internally.

Yeah, the z6 just has disformed arms
I'm sure I can make it fit, but I'd rather have it not look mangled.

not going for the "do it with what i have" look? personally i find that it's cheaper, and you have to be creative!
It also makes it easier to adjust the timing if the distributor actuall fits.

I have seen at a local speed shop that the dude cut the area for the bolts on the distributor to make it fit and it did and is workin great (by the way the car it went on has a FI Z6)
