OT: PT Cruiser
Anyone have some info about them? How are they in accelerating? Aside from them being fugly i know nothing about them. Reason I ask is because someone I know with an ITR just did a third gear pull, and said the thing wasn't that slow. The R started 2 car lengths behind, and SLOWLY pulled on the Cruiser, but he said it wasn't a raping. Just wanna learn more about those things. BTW, the R had a passenger, and some other stuff in it.

so you pulled away slowly..
damn.. that PT is fast.
From a site..
"Its High Output, turbocharged 2.4-liter engine creates 215 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 245 lb.-ft. of torque at 3600 rpm, with more than 90 percent of peak torque from 2300 to 5000 rpm"
"PT Cruiser's standard 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve four cylinder power plant offers 150 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 162 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. You'll appreciate those numbers when you step on the gas pedal to climb a hill or pass another vehicle"

As far as I know the easiest way to tell the difference is that the turbo model would be designated "GT Cruiser" instead of PT on the rear...please correct or add-on to this if there are other differences...
I've read that the normal pt is slower then slow, and the turbo is 0-60 7.4 seconds with the automatic. Assuming the model was manual and both cars had minimal to no mods, that sounds about right.

even with a turbo PTs are slow as nutz...the driver of the R sucked at driving...just my .02
As for the scenario.. he started 2-3 cars behind the Cruiser. He dropped into 3rd, punched it .. and slowly krept, and pulled about 2 cards ahead by the time he shifted to 4th and was at about 105-110 mph.

"So if he started @ 5k, the dude pulled 4-5 car lengths in 3400rpm...what did he expect? The car isn’t THAT fast"
My thoughts exactly... there seems to be this though that R's are sooooo fast. I would classify them as quick, not fast. You want fast, jump into a true sports car - some of the exotics come to mind... Ferrari 575M, wow that ride scared the crap out of me...
Not to mention the R was never designed as a straight speed car, the fact is, IMHO, the R was designed more with the track in mind...
Also - Dont Street Race... it’s not worth it.

taking the street racing risks for a PT ****** cruiser is retarded....
ride in your friendly neighborhood Single Turbo supra.....you'll forget all about 'exotics'

Ferrari hasn't built a sports car since the '60s.
Exotics are nothing more than *****-stretchers for rich, old men that happen to have the ability to attain rediculous velocities.
Miatas are true sports cars.

The GT Cruiser (turbo version) comes with 17" wheels(chrome is an option), and in manual or auto trans. Other than the badging on the hatch and the wheels, the exterior is the same visually as the other trim levels('03+ all body color is avail on other trim levels).
Mopar will be offering a "stage 3" upgrade worth 300hp for the SRT4. Imagine that in that little retro hatch!

Grand Touring Cars are what they typical American mistakenly calls a "Sports Car." Examples would be the M3 and 996 Carrera.
Exotics are cars that are frequently beaten on a track by more solidly built cars in a lower price bracket called "Porsches." These cars often attract non-enthusiasts with deep pockets. A few of them (like the Enzo) rise to the top of this crowd by offering the ability to attain rediculous velocities.
