Default installing strut bar

is there anything else that you have to do when installing one besides bolting it under your hood. someone told me that you have to jack your car up and compress your struts when doing it or something.

As long as you are on level ground, just bolt it on. The struts shouldn't move.

gotta take off all the wheels.. buy a CF hood... get some Altezza tails... buy a huge aluminum spoiler.. mix match bodykit and side skirts.... and Rice out your car b4 you can put on your strut bar.... otherwise the strut bar wont line up correctly with the bolts....

front strut bars should be present on cars that oversteer out of control. Unless you have a rear sway bar, bushing kit, good alignmnet(no spec) and a front sway don't waste your money! For fwd that is

don't jack the car up,

1. take off nuts on shock tower

2. put strut bar on

3. tighten nuts

thats the complicated procedure to installing a strut bar.

what?!?! front strut bars have little to no significance concerning under/over-steer...

ok sorry i asked a question *******. It was a resonable question and you don't need to be a dick about it. If you don't have anything important to say then you don't need to post on the topic. I knew that all you had to do was bolt it on, but someone told me something different and i just wanted to make sure i wasn't wrong.

alright i found out why my friend thinks you have to jack the car up and do some adjusting so the strut bar pushes outward. Read this thread he found on a DSM website and tell me what you think about it. http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showth...threadid=79504

Never respond to a suspension or handleing question again.

What on earth do you think the upper support brace does? This is not an appearance mod

please explain in detail how they affect understeer/oversteer? i'd really like to be educated here...

i've came to the conclusion that strut braces only helped to stiffen the chassis, which would be a chassis item, not neccesarily a suspension item, in theory, i can see where you're coming from, but i doubt a car will 'flex' enough to change an alignment angle so dramatically that it would induce/reduce an oversteer or understeer condition..

just out of curiocity why would you drop suspension by lifting the car only to have to try and compress the springs again? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

is it me or did the guy telling you this want to use your car in part of some silly autocide or somethin? could just wanted to see you work twice?

IT makes sense but, ideally rather than jacking the car up I would want to take measurements for the correct distance of the shock/strut mounts. You don't want to pre-load the setting more than needed. I could easily see every car being different. Some may push in on the bar others may pull out. It depends on the "correctness" of the suspension geometry (ie if the car was in an accident). For most purposes though if the bolts aligne well it should work. The idea is that the bar holds the damper mounts in place when cornering. Assuming the geometry of the setup is correct while the vehical is resting simply installing the bar as mentioned(just bolt it on) should be fine.
