I came across this car for sale recently....the seller has it listed as a Type R. This was the only picture he posted. Obviously the owner has no respect for the R....(mirrors, debadged, etc)...but ya never know. The guy is from Canada, and says it has a leather interior. What's the deal here?

 

either an R or and RS.. im thinking it is an R. im not to good at these thigns.. but thats a pretty good job if its an RS..

the interior was probably replaced. it has all the signs of a ITR.

Yeah...I'm trying to figure out why he would've put leather seats in it. I'm assuming it's either a theft recovery, or an owner who really doesn't care about the fact that it's an R. I'm asking the guy for pictures of the engine bay, gauge cluster, etc...but I'm keeping my fingers crossed cos it's a great price

most likely theft recov, as far as the leather goes. If you go to look at it, check for trunk bar and underneeth and behind there is a small bar that connects the 2 lower points of the rear lower subframe.

 

From that picture you can tell that it has the body line of an R, not those ugly side moldings you find on the lower models, and it sorta looks like a 5 lug from that angle

 

Yea but those can be removed. And what the hell is that antenna??

 

lol. the slightest hint someones modified their ITR and everyone comes down hard on him.

Sure its definately worth asking the owner,

but from what I can see from that one pictures just a few cosmetic things were done, such as the rice mirrors and cell phone tower antenna. sure we may not agree with what he did as far as taste, but is it, his car.
