Default removing GSR secondaries /w hondata

I know I've read that its supposed to hurt you if you remove the entire secondary plate on a GSR IM. I've got a hondata tuned b18c /w a GSR IM... and I was thinking of removing the entire plate that houses the secondaries. My question is: will thie be a beneficial mod, given that I have the ability to tune everything with my hondata system (seeing as I'm boosted)

i dont see any problems removing the butterflies. or you could just disconnect the vacuum source and cap it and they'll be open at all times.

the whole idea behind dual runners is a more torque but the turbo does well enough.

the ideal solution would be to replace the manifold with short single runner mainifold ala skunk2 or the bigger edelbrock.

Well, I was under the impression that the reason why removing them would hurt you is because the ECU is tuned to have them there (timing and fuel). So, if I can tune it with the plate removed...

No, it would also hurt you beacuse intake air velocity will drop due to increased flow at low RPMs.

What it comes down to is that the dual runner plenums are designed to be just that, dual runners. They serve their purpose and they work well. Why would you want to remove the secondaries? God knows Hondas don't have any torque to spare!

Tony is right, as usual. However, on a street based Honda, so much low end torque is not what we all need, when slicks arent loaded ya know.

What I find hysterical is all these people with n/a GSR's putting on S2 manifolds, only picking up power 7500+ and losing everywhere else (with stock cams). Honda apparently knows how to build a motor pretty well

Well, I'm running hondata on a p30... so no IAB control. I have my head off changing the gasket, and I thought that if it would be beneficial, then I could do something like this. I was just figuring that maybe honda put it there... to give some low end while sacrificing some high-end. Since I can't control them anyway...

if it has no iab controller on your ecu, you use the msd rpm activation switch.

Hey guys...I'm currently running the hondata s200 with p28. with the p28 it disables the secondaries...would I gain more torque if I got like a skunk2 or edelbrock IM?
