Sat in the racecar today...
Thanks to an ice storm, I got a bit of garage time with the racecar getting it ready to go for wiring next weekend. Bolted the seat back in for the first time in a few years probably amongst other things. Even with the nose up on jack stands and a layer of light garage dust on it, it was good just to sit quietly in it for a moment. It may be small but it is something.
I don't know how many others find themselves sitting in or near the car in the garage and stare quietly but it can be therapeutic for me. Many times and many cars have I have I dozed off working in or under. Not bad. As long as you taking even small steps, you are getting closer to the goal.

i suppose its like eating an elephant... do it one bite at a time.
I'm looking at a cherry 91 integra with hardly a blemish about to gut it out and turn it into a race car. So sad....

It is a good feeling to open the door to the garage, peer in, and see a race car looking back.

My racecar sits on jack stands stripped in the garage (doors, fenders, Hood, interior all off/out) while I work on it. I often spend a lot of time thinking about what to do next with it and just staring at it trying to visualize this or that I'm going to do and get a mental note in my head. If I need to take a break I'll just lie down in the floorpan...maybe close my eyes and dream a little. Though I need to order the seats so I can sit or lie in the car again without worrying about sockets or bolts making it a little uncomfortable...lol. Looking at one thing at a time seems to get more done for me than letting the big picture consume me...and I think the build is starting to pickup pace because of it.
I do wonder when I stare at the car in the garage how I'm going to wash it with no side windows though...very carefully I imagine.

Once a month the cover comes off to trickle charge the battery and check that the electrics work. Run the engine when it is warm enough to open garage door (not today sadly). Finally got my race harnesses installed and await a good day to take the car the have the 2-way radio installed and state inspection. Then I can load it up in the spring for the track. Then again, as you note-there is always something to do to the car-details like the heat reflective floor covering that needs spray glued or the final setting for the coilovers-needs an alignment. Does anyone actually bleed brakes on days like this?
Have a great time

I would do the same thing, but my crx is 130 miles away with a tarp taped over it, while we come up with a temporary "sunroof fill in" without a welder. For now I have a seat and a steering wheel sitting in a corner of my room to keep my happy.
