To those of you who converted your ECU to OBD1, please read....
once you put the new ECU and conversion harness back in the car, how did you have everything positioned so you could get that plastic kick panel back on?
I'd like to know this also. I'm guessing if you can't get everything bolted up the way it is from the factory with the stock ecu, you can probably use masking tape to mount it. Sure its ghetto, but you won't see it right?
like the ECU will bolt to the car, its just that b/c of the conversion harness, there's a lot of excess wires and all that get in the way of putting the kick panel back on.
well i couldn't bolt it back on cause of all the wires. but i had the plug facing down, and the wires facing the the inside. hope this helps, i'll try to post a pic when i get home.
You just need to tuck the conversion harness wires under the ecu the best you can...I'll try and show a pic of what I mean, I just put my panel back on this weekend.
mine went back in fne , just gotta finagle it a bit , i wetn from my stock R ecu to a p28 that is double the size

What I did was you a twisty tie to hang the connectors coming from under the dash under the dash, put the metal guard over the ECU with the connectors facing up coming out of the plastc kick panel and connected in the back under the glove box.The heavy duty twisty ties keep it underneath& behind the glove and you cant see it at all.
thats what i was kind of trying. i just gave up b/c there was already like a foot of snow out there and it just kept pilin up. i'll try it tomarrow and see how it works out.
i have a question..p28..is that my ECU on my Ls? casue i was cleanin under the hood today and i seen a black cover with p28 on it..next to my AEM power pulleys..and i was wondering what is a obd1? cause i see it quite often on here and.. i dont know to much about these things..and i was wonderin what would be a good brand ECU upgrade for my 99 Ls..headers, exhaust, pulleys, CAI.?
Its a good mod thought, just with bolt ons and my 95p72 you can clearly feel a difference during vtec,it even sounds alot meaner.
