Audi A6 Projector Swap -> ITR (Day One)
EDIT - Finished swap, won't have "How To" (with more installation pictures and details) until next week, but until then, check the last page of this thread for a few light output pictures!
Okay. Day one kind sucked. After taking apart the headlight housing and looking at the situation, we kinda had to brainstorm for a while to figure out how to mount the new projector. The old projector is made (not attached) onto the same bracket as the high beam:

So what we had to do was cut out the stock projector housing and leave only the base so we can mount the new one here:

After a lot of test fitting we drilled new holes and got new screws and everything mounted here:

EXCEPT we had one little problem here:

We were too worried about mounting the projector onto the bracket and not separating the reflector from the lens (creating a larger distance) so we were careless and forgot to keep the lense at the stock place and now the projector sits an inch too far back!
Doh! Now not all 100% of the light is being outputted!
That was day one. I gotta tell you this is not an easy project. Requires A LOT of dremeling and cutting.

If you look at that picture, we mounted the projector onto the BACK of the stock plate, today we're going to mount it on the FRONT to bring it an inch closer.
Other than that little mishap, this project is so fun and I can't wait to finish. We tested the output of the Audi HIDs against the wall and it is amazing. The beam has a VERY SHARP cut off and the color and spread is amazing!
Anyway, I have to get started on Day 2. Wish me luck. BTW, we'll pobably be done by the time it gets dark so prepare your bandwidth for some OEM HID pictures later on

Nice project. The projector looks like its more than one inch away from the housing, telling from the pics. Looks like when you mount it over the plate, you'll still may need to put a few washers to get it flush with the housing.
Can't wait to see the outcome.

Yeah, we'll see how we have to go about it, thanks for the info though.
EDIT: BTW, it may seem that the lense is further back because the AUDI Projector is a lot smaller compared to the stock Integra one.

Wow... does look like a lil mission. I didn't think it would be easy, but I also didn't know you were gonna do it yourself. Goodluck, keep us posted and good info.

awsome. I did something similar, but with the 92-95 civic angeleye lamps.

The only problem I see from looking at the picture is that, if you move the lens to the front of the stock plate, the distance between the reflector and the lens (and thus the focal point and optics) would be altered. Just a thought. Looks good so far - I always enjoy doing custom projects. Keep us posted.
At least, I hope so

I think he's going to move the whole assembly forward, thus preserving the OEM Audi optics.

Yeah, we're not going to modify the optics of the Audi HID, we're going to move the whole unit to the front BUT with this lies the fact that we have to make the "hole" larger for the whole projector to fit through
Yes, more fabrication!

EDIT: And on another note. Mario, I had both lenses sitting in the sun yesterday and I noticed that the light reflecting off of the Audi lense seemed to flicker all sorts of colors like a prism. The effect was even more intense as I moved my head left and right, with the Integra lense, it didn't change in color at all

This project definately looks promising. I can't wait to see the final results Skafia.
Mang, you are now obligated to do a write up on this DIY!

I really don't want to say this and I know that there's really no comparison but when I'm done, the output is going to make Trevor's kit look like Misterjung's

What do you mean exactly?
I can't wait to see the results.
Please snap lots of pics, but with a better camera this time.
