how hard is it to install an aftermarket car alarm? And what does the job intail?

An alarm is as good as it's install.

 

geta factory for your basic alarm. Than u can install that but aftermarket u cant

 

not hard at all if you have any sort of experiance,most places will give you a print out of where to tap your wires,i have a book for when i do alarms. like the others said,its only as good as its install,the trick is to make it look as factory as possable,hiding every little wire and leaving nothing exposed to the eyes,make sure you have all your doors and most importantly your hood protected with pin switchs,i relocated my battery to the rear,installed a back up battery,put a siren in the trunk as well as 2 in the motor compatement,my alarm is wird directly to the battery in the rear.basicaly it would be a real bitch to take the car,im also using a couple kill switchs and dissconnect a few plugs when i leave the car over night i dont trust.when its at home i have 2 great dains and 2 datsun weinner dogs protecting it,lol.you can make a back up battery for about $15 using a security battery from home depot and a $3 relay.

 

i have a factory alarm ..then add d a black widow as a backup..u can also and i recommend a backup battery..if the get pass the first then the second will get them

btw..ive got a horn hook d up to the inside of the car as well..so when it goes off its really going un nerve the crook

 

My alarm is damn loud when it goes off, and I am glad too.

 

my dad was an exec at clifford alarms for like 15 years...

i got a 1300 dollar alarm installed, for free

i just sat there and watched, it looked pretty complicated.

i work at a car stereo shop outside of charlotte nc.....we do viper and audiovox alarms.....the vipers are alot easier to install then them audiovox's....the vipers have to be installed my a professional....they start out at $160 installed and go up from there...also if you want extra security have then hook up the ground when armed wire to your fuel pump activation...you will ne a relay to switch the polarity of the pulse...but its a idea....

 

I put a Viper ESP 500 in my car along with door actuators (no power locks before hand) and a motion sensor. It was pretty simple except for the door actuators....I would NOT reccomend that to anyone. Just take it and get it installed by a perfessional.

 

actuators are easy all you need is a pair of pliers, grinder (maybe), and an electric screw driver
