clutch question..

Default clutch question..

i test drove this 2001 itr and i noticed the clutch grinded when i went from neutral to first while rolling to a stop...is that normal? my 2000 doesnt do this but i bought mine with 30k already on it..thanks for the help..I had to wait till to a complete stop to put the car in first with the clutch in..

Well there is a mechanism that is built into the transmission that does not allow you to enter first gear when your RPMs are too high. So when you try to force it in while its slowing down, you are grinding the gears. Yes its suppose to do that to tell you NOT to push your car into first until your RPMs are sufficiently low.

thanks i just wonder why my 2000 doesnt do this..maybe it was grinded so much by the last owner its just not doing it anymore..
