I have a 92 Prelude SI. I recently had a new clutch installed in the Prelude and I was driving it everyday to break in the clutch and it was working fine, then one day my father drives it and gets mad at some guy taking an hour at a stop sign so he burns out like hell all the while the clutch isnt broken in but maybe 100 miles max, and ever since then whenever you let the clutch out slowly it seems to slip and the whole car vibrates very badly. Can anyone tell me whats going on and how to maybe fix it?

HAHA.. .. .. Somethign has gone wrong eh? My clutch installed.... My mechanic goes ooh goody after he got it in... Then he says lets see what this bad boy will do... 15 sec peel w/ my permission w/o any brakes on.... Stage 2 baby.... If its in right and everything is good... Why do you need to slowly break it in? I say pump it a couple times and hit it hard to make sure its right... Then go about life as nessecary...

 

you're suppose to brake in sprung clutchs because of their design. Unsprung do not need a brake in period as they don't handle any shock its self (the transmission does). Sprung clutchs have two "seperate" peices that use 4 springs to allow them to slide as you start going. This absorbs the shock, and by design requires a brake in period

 

I dont think the car is dead. I can still drive it and it works fine(no vibrations) after 2nd gear and 1st and 2nd gear only vibrate on the take off, once their in and I let off the clutch they work fine. This is the problem and I have no idea what exactly it is so if someone knows please post it and let me know. Thanks

 

ClutchMasters says break in their clutch with normal driving for 500 miles. Eh...I've done about 200 and I've just slammed it a few times. Not that bad didn't exprience any problems. Might want to get it looked at just in case you didn't fudge it up.

 

Hey man, doe sit only vibrate sometimes?? I don't have a new clutch in my car but I know my clutch master cylinder is bad. Maybe they didn't install yours properly...or maybe there is some air in the lines??

My car only shudders when I try and take off. The rest of the gears are fine. I notice this only happens every so often though.

Check your clutch fluid level to see if it is topped off.

 

Yeah it only vibrates when I get up in first gear slowly, when I get up fast it works fine and works fine through all he other gears.

 

Yeah, sounds like either there is air in your clutch lines or your clutch master or slave cylinder is bad.

 

I replaced the master cylinder and slave already before the vibrating.
