we put a mani on a 98 gsr and now it hardly runs and blows black and white smoke out the exhaust along with black liquid. the idle is very irratic and if you give it any gas it dies. the plugs are also very black and they werent like that before they were perfectly clean. we have checked for all kinds of vacuum leaks and none are present. any help is greatly appreciated. it also has no codes

 

sounds like you switched the plugs for the map senor(located on top of throttle body) and tps sensor(located on the back of the throttle body). one of my friends did this. did the same ****. i would bet this happened to you!!

 

It should be throwing a code if this was the case.

It sounds very odd to me, look over everything you took off and get back to us.

 

no it will not throw a code. try it on your own car if you dont belive me

 

Well, it has thrown a code on my sohc, so I dont know what your talkin about.

So it must be different from the two, I was just speaking from experience.

what ecu are you using?

 

the problem actually was the tps and map plugs were mixed. and no it didnt throw any codes. we thought it would too thats why we never checked them. it is a stock gsr ecu
