Just installed my 4500 Catz HID.. and..
I'm slightly disappointed.
That isn't to say I don't like the kit, but - I expected maybe a little more white out of it. However, my headlight housing is that of a 1994 so it isn't exactly clear and that could be draining some of the light output? Anybody out there that has philips, catz, etc on a older GSR how did you take care of that problem outside of buying new headlights?
The lights look AWESOME when they warm up, then the brightness almost like dies out - I'm not sure if it's the ground or what but if it iwasnt grounded correctly it wuldn't even turn on right?

My friend has a 95 and to keep his piaas shining bright he waxes his headlight. Just an idea.
Also, about the "dying out" you speak of, I'm no HID expert but I do believe that's how all HID systems are. The lights are at their brightest when they first turn on. Then the bulbs warm up and the light takes it's normal form.
Hope this helps.

If it's not grounded properly I don't think you'd see the dying out effect with your eyes (because it would be too fast for a human to recognize). If you housing is really scratched up, don't loose light output, it's just the beams are scattered. I've never tried this, but maybe you can sand down a thin layer of the glass optics? Have you seen another catz system? Maybe it's doing it's job.
there was a post earlier this week about cleanin the outside of the headlamps... You can search for that to remedy your problem... But here i'll just make it easier for ya and tell you what i did to my 94 headlamps,
Go to kragen's or any autoparts store and buy a bottle of 3M rubbing compound should be around 5 bucks.. nothing expensive. And pick up some metal polish in the wax and polish section. Use the rubbing compound on ur headlamps and then buff off thoroughly. Then follow it with the metal polish. That makes my lens clear as hell.. Looks nearly brand new. hope that helps

Maybe you should have looked at some of the different temp kits? I know people with the 4500 kit and they were disappointed to, its just really not that bright for an HID kit. I personally like the ones with more of a bluish/purple tint to it.
the best way to deal with the headlights is to take them out of the car bake them at 200 degrees for about twenty minutes pull them out and then you should be able to pull them apart. clean the inner lenses with toothpaste and brush(not kidding toothpaste is a polish meant not to damage your teeth so its safe for glass(this is what i use to keep my taillights all nice and new looking.) then sind some silicone sealant and put the headlights back together. it sounds like a tough job but he hardest part is just taking of the front bumper.

I usually just wax mine along with the rest of the car. I have the 4300 Phillips kit from Trevor and am very satisfied with them.
