knock an a female neighbor's door and ask to borrow one-have yet to meet a female who hasn't had one, because you know most women are very particular about their weight.

go to walmart and get a scale, then return it after you weigh the hood. same w/ tape measure for dimensions.

Take dimensions of hood, calculate surface area, and type of metal used. Get technical and use the density and area to calculate weight and/or mass.

No scale, no problem. Don't need it.

 

Stock hood weighs 45lbs.

CF (depending on brand) weigh around 16-17 lbs (for comparison)

 

They must have applied as few hundred extra coats of paint to your stock hood. Mine was ~31 lbs., though my FiberImages CF hood did weigh right around 16lbs.
