New Integra owner
Hey, how's it going.
Recently I stumbled across a 1991 Acura Integra GS which my dad had on his car dealership. I drove it for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it. It's fully loaded, has leather, everything, except it comes with the ***-ugliest rims I have ever seen.
I am definitly not planning on keeping this car stock. In terms of cosmetics, I think I am going to tint the windows all around, get the 1 peice JDM headlights (what are the black projector ones I see on ebay?), debadge it, maybe remove the spoiler, and slam it. I am not into the whole body kit/custom interior look. I like having a simple car with nice lines.
All I have planned are some lowering springs or coilovers, Rota Slipstreams or something like it, short shifter (the throws are toooooooo long), intake, and exhaust.
Now I have a couple of questions. I am a student in grade 12 so I am on a tight budget.
1) Is buying a brand name CAI like AEM worth it? What's the difference between AEM's CAI's and the $30 ones on ebay?
2) What are some decent coilovers/shock/spring setups (2" prefered)? Remember, I'm on a budget
3) Exhaust. I want an aftermarket catback, BUT I do NOT want it to be one of those "fart-cans" as some people so generously call them. I want a nice exhaust with a low rumble that doesn't fart.
4) What are some other common mods that people do to their cars? I have a 1990 Jetta GTX 16v right now and I know a lot of people in the mk2 (1985-1992) VW community gut their airbox's and do other DIY mods like that. I was wondering what people do to their 2nd gen. Integs.
Thanks a lot for listening and reading, and hopefully answering. I look forward to posting more often.
BTW: the car is an amazing mid-colored grey

W'sup and welcome ot H-T.com
Remember, brand name isn't always the reason you should buy parts for your car - it doesn't necessarily mean that it's automatically better. But one thing I have noticed was that a lot of those cheaper parts are made with cheap quality that fail sooner down the road. Its up to you how you want to spend your money - if it was up to me, here's what I'd do: Do it right the first time. I don't mean for you to go ballz out on the most expensive parts, but do some research and find the parts that work best for your car. It'll be a waste if you had to replace cheap quality parts over and over again.
