Default This is a dumb newbie question but

I have a 2001 GSR, what would be the difference between a 4-2-1 header and a 4-1 header? I'm looking to buy one here soon, so I'd appreciate any help. My future plans are a JRSC, and maybe some cams.

4-2-1 better for lower power, 4-1 better for higher power. as in, low or high rpm. for something like LS, best to have 4-2-1, gsr and type R best to have 4-1

how soon do you plan to get the SC? because if it's not that far down the road i think you should wait and then get something better like kamikaze.
for example, i was going to get the JDM 4-1 for my GSR but since i am going turbo within the next couple months i decided to save the money

a cheaper brand that imo does not have as much respect as far as the big names go.

kamikaze is a good 4 to 1 for supercharged applications.

Agreed! Take your guys' **** elsewhere. Quit filling up every thread with your drama

As for the Kamikaze, i really don't know much about Supercharging but from what i've heard it's a really good header for supercharged applications. JDM 4-1 is good for all motor.

yea guys what is the story with the drama?

kamikaze has, for some reason, become a very reputable name in supercharged applications...you can call it cheap, but i dont think all of the sc owners out there are just doing it because everyone else is, and they are certainly arent doing it because its cheap...i mean cmon, they are boostin their car....lets think.

So the JDM 4-1 is a better buy than say the DC Sports header? I don't really care too much about price I just want the best gains and I've never modded a car with this many parts out there, so its hella easy to choose a bad part. If I do go for the JDM what's considered expensive, and what's about average? Thanks for all the feedback too, makes things a lot easier.

Not to be rude, but I think you guys are wrong. The guys at my local tunig shop said that 4-1 headers are better for non-vtec (i.e. the ls,gs,rs). And the 4-2-1 are better for the vtec.

the kamikaze uses short fat primary runners and dump into the collectory barely below the head level. the blower seems to likt this in place of the long primary tubes on everyones 4-1 wether jdm or dc or whatever. the kamikaze should give your otherwise stock motor decent low end gains with minimal top end loss. if you do get one tho, your non-supercharged motor will prob see gains from it as the large size will reduce the exhaust velocity in stock trim.

has anyone had any quality issues with the kamikaze? I mean it is priced pretty damn low, and I've never actually seen one in person. Anybody own one? How are the welds on it?

I heard they are shitty, but I've never personally tried them myself. You generally get what you pay for.

See that's my general opinion about things, I don't see how it can be worth anything when its priced so cheap. But if the SC guys l8ike it I may have to give it further consideration. Or at leaset research it a little more.

I would recommend a 4-3-2.5-2-1-1.5-.5 header. These headers add sick mad power YO.

Squeezing is not cheating. But anyways, you should get the JDM 4-1. A 4-1 header will give you top end while 4-2-1 will give more mid range, but when racing, you usually stay in the higher rpms.
