Me vs. Curb --- Need Opinions and Thoughts (long, and cliff notes)
Hey Guys --- Tonight I was just driving through my neighborhood....and I suppose it was a bit more icy than I thought...because before I knew it I found myself in a slide (******* kumhos) and i hit the curb (front passenger side had majority of the blow) @ about 15 mph. Made the grossest thud in the world when i hit...I went all the way up onto the curb, onto the sidewalk, and managed to get back on the road.
I'm freaked. I figured I'd bent the wheel, ruined my front end, and messed the entire suspension.
Well, I put on my blinkers...and called scott b/c I was, as you all would be, hardcore shocked.
I then attempted to drive home. Here is my testimony on that: Rode okay. I couldn't notice any issues at the time. I was a little freaked, and any little bump was probably normal. So, I'm going to say that it rode normal.
Once I got home, checked the front end and wheel. Surprisingly, no front end damage...the wheel though...hmm. That is where I am wondering. It is most definitely curbed...hardcore. Very noticable...looks a little bent, as if it is protruding into the tire a bit...but I'm not sure of the severity. I'll post pics tomorrow.
If the wheel is a bit bent...how detrimental is it if I drive on it? Am I risking anything? I know it is hard to say now.
Also, re the suspension...if that were messed up, would I definitely know? Perhaps by a messed up stance, or an odd ride? I dont have those...but if there are some key things I should check, Please let me know.
Thanks so much for the help,
Robbie
Cliffs notes: Driving, ice, front passenger side runs into curb @ 15 mph, semi dented wheel maybe or something, wondering problems with driving on it, as well as possible hidden suspension issues seeing as I hit it quite hard.

i would put your car up on a lift or on some jack stands... remove the rim where the impact was and self inspect all the suspension components and joints. Double check your brake line brackets and make sure no damage has been done. I can't be sure how bad your rim damage is but alot of times rim damage whether bent or curbed can be repaired by a metal finishing shop or rim repair shop. So don't be too stressed over the wheel. Just make sure the rest of ur car is ok. And if you have pics of the damage then i'm sure everyone would be able to help you more.
Quick Update: Just took the wheel off with no problems, which is a relief...at first glance, the suspension components are OK...no leaking, no shock leaking or anything...no random pools under the car. Well, I'll post pics. Anything else I should specifically look at?
take your wheel to a balancing machine and see if it is still in balance then get an alignment you should be fine after that. oh and by the way kumhos are not snow or wet weather tires by any means at all

keep ur spirits up bro.. i'm sure everything will turn out ok. Just get some rest and tomorrow u can take another look at ur car with a fresh mindset. I'm sure there isn't anything that can't be repaired with minimal effort.
We've all had car trouble one time or another.. don't stress.

" I'm just giving you advice. Today I ran into a curb with my car on my shitty stock rims and I could care less. And your suspension is fine, mine is fine, all that you may need is a alignment, come on you should know all of this.

Make sure you check the ball joints in your suspension, I messed up my wheel once and popped out my front A arm ball joints, very scary

Okay...sorry for not "knowing all of this". I guess perhaps you haven't realized this, but yours and my situations are different. You do not know for a fact that my suspension is fine, and I'm not asking people to know that. I am asking for some things that I need to be checking besides the obvious things that I checked. I am not dumb, I can install a suspension - and I know the components to a suspension. But I dont claim to know it all, so I ask my honda-tech buds for some extra pointers. Sorry if that is not cool with you.
That's cool with me, but why don't you just check it yourself. And what componets do you think you messed up, because there aren't too many componets to the suspension.

really glad to hear that everything seems ok.
just because the suspension "looks" ok does not mean it is not bent. Get an alignment. And you can put that rim on the back- all it is gonna do at worst is give you crap wear on that tire if it is bent bad. And maybe lose air too.
BTW- Props on putting the tire on the dinner table!!!

Damn, I remember the exact same thing happened to me in my 91 camry(my first car) and I almost ****. I'd never been in an accident or anything..Blew out my tire and bent the rim. After everything was done I ended up paying like 300 to fix suspension and rode around on a damn spare. The car never felt the same. Fortunately, that car is gone and I have my GSR
. I didn't read the whole post, but i would go ahead and take it in and have a professional check it out to make sure nothing is wrong, unless you know a good deal about suspension items. Good luck and sorry for thisto happen to you!
