starting problem. need help. got helms.
hey guys i've been trying to resolve this problem for some time now. I got the helms and now i'm going to do a few tests to track down the problem but i have a few questions. i don't fully understand some of the procedures in the helms.
1) when taking out the distributor to check the cap and rotor and icm it says somehting about "Bring No.1 piston to compression stroke TDC." how do i do this?
2) my engine cranks but won't start. i used a jumper wire to connect the starter soleniod to the (+) battery terminal and it does the same thing (cranks but no start). is this normal for starters? shouldn't it start all the way for the starter to be functioning good?
thanks for any input.

4th gen/5th gen?
If you have any MSD product, take it off and put the original coil back on.
Check the ignitor inside of the distributor cap. (Maybe the Honda dealership?) I believe there is a way to check it with a DVM.
Some 5th gens had ignition switch problems... (recalls)
