ok so i think my car is sold so now 98m3? or another R
i just sold my R for a good price and can find many others for cheaper and make some more money by selling them again or go ahead any buy this estoril blue 98m3 with 44k miles on it in perfect condition for $23k. I can decide what the hell i should do...
Bro, somethings you gotta decide for yourself.
Do what your gut tells you to do... otherwise you'll always regret it.

Estoril blue is a gorgeous color, my fav M3 color!!! But BMWs are much more expensive to maintain, not to mention ///M specific parts are even more. Do some research and ask yourself if it is the right car for your needs. PS-Id buy an E30, its still on my list of cars to own hehe.

Didn't have an ITR, but I sold my Si for a 95 M3. It is kinda apples to oranges, but damn the M3 is one tasty orange

not to call a brother out, but IMHO any car tuckin rims is pretty gay, M badge or not....

Definitely test drive the car and see if it suits you. For me, the balance of the car just sealed the deal. Street cars are all about compromises, and the ///M guys just made all the right choices(very similar to the ITR).
That said, the car you are looking at is a pretty damn good deal, but the market on M3's has really gone down recently.
To disspell some rumors and myths though, I don't really find it all that much more expensive to maintain my M3 than my non-VTEC Integra. Takes more oil(7 freaking quarts!), but most parts are surprisingly low-priced(did the 'big' Inspection 2 by myself for ~$120-140 or so). Now if you get work done at a dealer, you are just hankerin' to go in and let them have at your cornhole with labor charges.
