Best Oil for a 160k 91 Civic Si?
As the topic states....what oil would be the best to use with my car? Im changing the oil today before a road trip from Nor Cal - San Luis Obispo - Vegas and back. Should I use synthetic, synth blend, or good ole fashioned motor oil?
On a side note, at 80 mph, which I usually drive at, my car is turning 4000rpm's. Could this be harmful on a 6 hour drive if it was consistent? And should I choose my oil considering this, or is it all the same? THanks guys....

If your car has regular oil than stick to regular oil---I use Quaker State 5w-30, thats what Honda reccomends. Dont change over to synthetic w/ 160k, cause it finds leaks easy.
And 4grand is obviously not harmful if it came from honda like that--we all know they luv to rev! I also have a Si and I'm in the parkway all day at 80 and never had a prob. Stop worrying yourself and party hard in Vegas. Represent H-T and bang us a few ******.
my stock motor had 188k miles when it gasp its last breath... it also burnt oil so i put used oil in it, friends would do a oil change on there car and i would use there old stuff
.... New motor is going in real soon... Gonna use Mobile 1 synthetic

with a car with that many miles change your weight!
When engines are new 5w30 should be used with least friction, helps break in motor, but when its get older and older thicker motor should be used, since the motor can't take the abuse it did wen it was young
with that many miles get 10w40
Also if you live in cold weather use 5w30 only during the winter cuz oil can affect you from starting your car in cold weather

From what i've heard, synthetic oil is actually bad for your motor if it has in excess of 75,000 miles on it. If your motor wasn't broken in with synthetic and nothing but synthetic oil from at least 70,000 miles on, I would suggest sticking to regular motor oil, and if you don't have any oil leaks of any sort, you should be fine. I think 5w30 is a little too thin to be running in a higher mileage engine though. I know Honda recommends it, but if your car does leak oil at all, it's gonna flow like water right out of your engine; happened to a buddy of mine down in Orlando.
