Default B17a swap done...some Q's

Well I finally completed my second swap, after the B18C1 developed a knock. Turns out just one of the pistons was messed up but now I get the chance to build it up for turbo.

So, in the meantime I have been working on swapping the B17a into the 91 DX. After many freezing hours and solved problems, it is finally running! It is a B17a motor, JDM S1 trans, PR3 ecu, new Hasport mount kit, etc. I am currently only running one O2 sensor, but will be adding the other one soon. It has a skunk2 intake manifold and ITR fuel rail.

Here are some pics I took:

Me making a funny face, I was trying to breath out and show that it was like 5 degrees out. The camera didn't get my breath though.

I have all of the vacuum lines hooked up, but the skunk2 intake manifold seemed different than the B16a intake manifolds I have seen. So, if you see any errors in my vacuum lines please let me know. Right now the car idles high when I first start it, a little over 2G's. But it does drop over time, to about 1200rpm. Due to the fact that it is freezing outside I understand why it revs so high in the beginning, but I feel that it is too high. I have adjusted my throttle cable. I will check for gasket leaks in the throttle body and intake manifold.

Also, the motor is loud b/c I don't have the exhaust hooked up fully yet. I have the downpipe resting up against the cat, but they aren't bolted up yet. When I have the car running I can hear a slight noise, sounds like a faint knock. I figure it may just be the exhaust rattling though, b/c if it was a knock I would be getting a code from the knock sensor, correct? Or is this not always the case. Maybe I am just being paranoid due to previous bad problems...

Very nice!
What wiring harness did you use?
Did you have to replace the complete harness?

I'm in the process of doing the same swap.

TIA

I used my stock DX harness. I first modified it for MPFI, then everything basically plugged right in. I did have to move/extend some wires, like the ECT sensor. And the alternator I am using is from the OBD2 GSR motor, so I had to rewire my OBD0 harness to that of the OBD2 alternator plug. The plug is different along with the color wires. That's it! No codes. (I guess the absence of the secondary O2 sensor doesn't cause a code?)

I have the harness from the OBD2 GSR motor, so I took plugs off of that. I also had a complete 88 SI harness which I completely dissected and hacked, removing donator plugs for my harness. It is a LOT easier to modify your stock harness than to swap an HF/SI harness instead, trust me.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'll help in any way I can.

Well, update is this..

No vacuum leaks. It is just really cold out. I let it idle high after about 5 minutes it drops to around 1100rpm and after driving it drops to about 600rpm.

Only once code right now, Vehicle Speed Sensor. I don't have it hooked up at the moment b/c the cable isn't long enough to fit over the rear tranny bracket and then plug into the tranny. Is it supposed to reach that way?
